Jer2:13 “For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me—
the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns
that can hold no water at all! NLT
God sent prophet Jeremiah to prophesy to the nation of Israel, His beloved people. They have forgotten and forsaken Him and gone awhoring after other gods. Two things were highlighted by God as their major sins:
(1) Abandoned God
(2)Dug cracked cistern.
Digging of cracked cistern is what I call 'inviable alternative'. When men abandon God, the next thing they start looking for are alternatives to God; in reality, there are no viable alternatives to God. Every time you abandon God, what the devil brings to you are alternatives that are not viable. Something that looks like pouring water into a basket with holes but he would lie to you that it can hold.
No matter what you may be going through, please do not abandon God. The trials we are going through should make us closer and shut doors against alternatives to God. People consult fake prophets, witch doctors and marabouts because they're seeking alternatives after waiting patiently but they still find themselves sinking deeper into despair. Hold on to God.
Father, I shall not abandon you neither will dig cisterns that cannot hold water In Jesus name. Amen
