Proverbs17:5 Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who rejoice at the misfortune of others will be punished. NLT
I schooled amongst the children of high and mighty. During my university days, we have some women that we call 'anywork' that comes around to help students out for any house chores at an agreed price. Most times, students mock and disregard these people and some even owe them for the services rendered.
Some students would even slam it on them that they're poor and hurl insult at them. As a child of God, do not mock poor people, if you don't have any help to render, just walk away. The misfortune of others shouldn't be the reason for your happiness. God created both the poor and the rich; it is not the desire of a poor man to be poor.
Be mild with people and not make jest of them in their predicament. That lowly man today maybe raised up tomorrow and you may be in need of his help. The misfortune of others should stir in you compassion and ultimately intercession. That is the way of the cross.
Pray for someone in a disadvantaged circumstance and interceed today.
