2Chronicles 24:2 Joash did what was pleasing in the Lord ’s sight throughout the lifetime of Jehoiada the priest. NLT
Joash was seven years old when he was crowned king in Jerusalem. He was too young to carry the burden of leadership neither did he know his right from his left at that age. Just imagine how your seven year old child thinks and behaves. Do you think he/she can lead your country at that age? If you'll be truthful, the answer is in the negative. Nobody would elect a seven year old to lead a whole nation. However, by providence he became a king at a tender age and the bible said: "Joash did what was pleasing in the Lord ’s sight throughout the lifetime of Jehoiada the priest."
The reason for his success was simply because he had a spiritual father figure( Jehoiada) that mentored him every step of the way. In fact, his marriage was mediated by Jehoiada and there was no record that his marriage failed nor was his heart turned from God because of his wives. Do not marry a man or woman who is not accountable to a Pastor or spiritual father figure. It helps. Being a king is akin to being in ministry and other important leadership positions. "In life, no matter the height you reach or may have reached, you need men with depth to help you stay focused." It is dangerous to be a loose canon. As a young king, Joash was responsible because Jehoiada held him accountable. Who are you accountable to?
Those that are not accountable to anyone may end up missing the way without knowing. Self isolation from mentors and spiritual leaders is a precursor to destruction." Fathers may not have height but they have depth. They know the way, walk the way and show the way. They correct, train and discipline. We come under the leadership of fathers not because we want to be high flyers as many think, rather, it is because we want to be deeply rooted and stay on course till the end. There are many high flyers without fathers, but it is just a matter of time, they may fizzle out because they lack the depth and discipline to sustain themselves up there. That is what fathers will help us to achieve so that we don't fizzle out in our prime.
Father, I receive the grace to submit in Jesus name.
