Job29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;KJV
I was discussing with a man years back. He began to share with me his exploits in the kingdom but the tense he used in our discussion reflected the past. All his exploits were in the past. I have met people who spoke about their exploits when they were in school fellowship or in the days of their youth, how they were fervent in serving God, their prayer life and private study. Some are still dwelling on a past glory that has faded, as far as God is concerned, they have become "Once upon a time" in history. There are many of such around today. It is painful when those people dwell and boast about their past glory instead of going on their knees to ask God for restoration.
When your exploits are in the past, it is an indicator of a weak relationship with God. It is dangerous to build a monument around what should be a movement. It is improper to be satisfied when you should be hungry for more of God's glory and manifest presence. Thank God for the souls won yesterday but today is a presents fresh opportunities to win more souls to the Lord. You prayed for the sick last week and the fellow recovered, thank God for bringing healing but don't stop there. You can become so anointed to the extent that hospitals will refer terminal cases to you for prayers. As they say, "good is the enemy of better and better is the enemy of best.". The disciples of Jesus saw the glory of God on the mount of transfiguration, they thought that was all there is in God, Peter said: "Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah" (Matthew17:4).
If Peter had built tabernacles and dwelt there, his shadows may not heal the sick. Paul said, "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead".(Phil3:13). There is greater glory ahead, thank God for the past but do not dwell there. There is a realm in God no man had operated. We have seen men do great exploits in the healing and revival days in America, Indonesia, Britain and Nigeria. Who will pay the price for a national revival that will sweep the nation clean and cause the fragrance of God's glory to spread? Don't rest when you're meant to be climbing the ladder of glory.
Father, I refuse to dwell on past glory. I receive the grace to pay the price to operate in a new dimension of glory in Jesus name
