In giving God our holistic worship, we must not exclude service. Most of the time, we hear messages about service with regard to working for the Lord so that we can be blessed. At other times, a Pastor may motivate members to join the workforce so that they can use their skills and talents for God. All of these are fine but we must understand that service within and without the church should be one of the ways we express our worship to God.
Serving God because of benefits should not be the primary reason for service. What happens when the benefit or miracle is delayed? Some stopped what they were doing in the church because of dashed hopes and unfulfilled expectations. Some sought for recognition by the Pastor but they couldn't get it. Some were discouraged because no one appreciated them. They forgot what Paul said Col3:22, "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." (Colossians 3:23 NLT)
The kind of service that God demand from us is such that flows from a life of love and worship. When service is human motivated and not focused on God, weariness would set in. Worshippers don't serve in the kingdom for men's applause or award, they serve to express their worship to their master and bishop of their souls.
Father, I receive the grace to serve you as an act of worship in Jesus name
