1 Chron 16:7 At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him, “Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram. (9) The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.” NLT
Asa was one of the kings that ruled in Judah. In 2 Chronicles 14:2, the bible said, "Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord his God." King Asa stood against idolatry, he smashed sacred altars, removed pagan shrines and cut Asherah pole. He turned the focus of his people to the true and living God- Yahweh. An Ethiopian once battled against him with thousands of armies, because he didn't trust in the arm of flesh, he turned to God: "Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord , no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord , you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!” (2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT). That's the prayer of a man that trusted God. He won that battle and his kingdom experienced peace for years.
However, in the passage of time, God told him that he will be at war(16:9). The reason for that verdict was because when Baasha the King of Israel tried to build walls around Judah, instead of him to trust the God of heaven, he sought for help from king of Aram, an ungodly king. God was angry with him and God declared that he'll fight battles for the rest of his life. This was a man that God helped against Zerah, he turned away from God and turned to man. "This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD." (Jer17:5). I want to share a secret with you. The moment you start seeking the help of man or devil in fighting the battles of life, you've signed up for a life of constant battles."
It is a dangerous thing to stop trusting God having trusted him before. You've been praying in the name of Jesus and answers have been coming, why are you now seeking for additional practices like bathing in river, using 'anointed' soap and cream? Is the name of Jesus no longer effective? Why are you following them to the house of an herbalist or Christopagan prophet? Anytime you do this, it shows you're beginning to seek after other gods. Listen to David, "Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods."(Psalms 16:4 NLT). Do you want to quit the battle scene and enter into a life of permanent victory? Trust God absolutely for help so that you can speak like the Psalmist: "I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."(Psalms 34: 4).
Father, I receive the grace to trust and seek you in Jesus name.
