Recently, the media is always saying something about fake Pastors and some of their actions. I saw an headline sometime ago about a Pastor that told people to pay certain amount so that he would check their names in the book of life. Those kind of Pastors are not the kind of Pastors God promised us.
True shepherds dish out true knowledge of God's word and seek to raise people with understanding. A genuine shepherd would do more of teaching than just trying to create a sensational atmosphere. You must learn to sit down under a Pastor that is interested in your eternity and not your pocket, true shepherds care for the sheep.
God has promised to give us shepherds after His own heart, if you find yourself under a shepherd that is no longer pursuing heavenly things, not teaching you to have the knowledge of God but his own ideas, excuse yourself from under such a Pastor. If you don't have a stable church yet, you need to pray for God's guidance on where to go.
