Mal2:16 "For I hate divorce!" says the LORD, the God of Israel. "To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife."
A boy was told to write a composition in school about himself, he wrote about the pains his father went through when their mother left and the deepest pains of his own heart even as a boy of less than ten years old. I have observed over the years that divorce affects children even more than the parents. God knew what He was saying when he said He hated divorce, one of God's topmost priority is family and he doesn't joke with families.
The devil is all out to ruin marriages as well because he knows that once families are held together, they would be able to advance against his kingdom as an army. Also, healthy families makes for an healthy nation; one of the reasons why we have delinquent teenagers is because some children were not raised in a balanced home. If a child is raised by either the mother or father alone, there are deficiencies that may result because his/her training won't be well rounded.
When there are issues in your marriage, resolution should be your topmost priority not divorce. If you rush into another marriage, you may discover that your new spouse is worse than the former. If you divorce, a large part of your life cannot be divorced from your spouse especially when you have children, something will always re connect you. If you make up your mind that divorce isn't an option, you are on your way to making your marriage work.
