Daniel1:8 But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. NLT
I was listening to someone who got drunk recently, he was asked why he got drunk and the excuse he gave was that he couldn't resist the offer of alcohol made to him by his boss at work. He drank himself out of common sense and ridiculed manhood. He wasn't force-fed with alcohol but he drank because wanted to belong and doesn't want to look like the odd person in the gathering.
One reason why some believers compromise is because they don't take a firm stand on what they believe when they are outside where unbelievers are. In a bid not to be disgraced or seen as odd one out of all, they give in to whatever the world is offering. Compromise is very common at work, school or in social gatherings. A lot of believers let down their guard when they aren't where the brethren are.
When you enter a place, let people know what you stand for. I have answered people severally on whether Christians can work in some places where corruption is rife, what I tell them is that if you enter an office where corruption is the norm, let them know that you are a Christian that will never compromise his stand. One thing they'll do is that they'll always take their sharp practices behind you and never bring it to you. Let's us shine the light of righteousness and remain in the light.
I receive the grace to take a firm stand in the midst of unrighteousness In Jesus name.
