THE LITMUS TEST OF OUR FAITH

December 22, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

1John3:14 If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. NLT

In O' level chemistry, we were taught that we can test the acidity or alkalinity of a solution using the litmus paper test. An acidic solution would turn blue litmus paper red while an alkaline solution would turn red litmus paper blue. The change in colour would help the scientist to distinguish the solution in his lab.

Our spiritual litmus test to determine if we are in the faith is LOVE. The only way we can know if a brother or sister is still in the faith is not in how long he spends in prayer, not how big the offering is, not in activities or participation in church programmes but in how he love his fellow brothers and sisters. Permit me to say that love isn't only for our Christian brothers but should be shown to all.

Love is the fulfilment or manifestation of the fruit of the spirit in our lives, in fact love can be summarized as living a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led lives. What is your rating on the love scale? If you still keep malice, live in hatred, back-bite and slander, you are not walking in love. The works of the flesh in our lives is the exact opposite of love, get rid of them.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to walk in love with men In Jesus name.
