We all know the story of Lot and his girls. He slept with his daughters (Genesis 19). He committed abomination; an incestous act is a pointer to a depraved mind. Though many believe he did what he did because he was intoxicated. I have a different opinion.
In 2 Peter 2:8, when Peter wrote about Lot, he said, "For that righteous man dwelling among them, in SEEING and HEARING, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;". Take note of the bolded.
The scripture above implies that his mind was polluted because he saw and heard immorality in Sodom first hand. He lived in an environment polluted by depravity. He knew the dynamics of depravity from what he saw often and what he heard. The alcohol his daughter gave him only gave him a dutch courage to do what was already in his mind.
If immorality is not in a man's mind, there is no amount of alcohol that will make him do what is not in his mind. Alcohol only emboldens people to do what they have in mind to do.
Again I say, guard your heart. Every thing a man does (including sexual immorality) is from the heart. You cannot overcome sexual immorality If you do not take charge of the gates leading into your mind.
The enemy's strategy is not to make you act you immoral. Rather, his strategy is to make you think immorality and get your mind filled with immoral thoughts so you can act immoral.
Now that you know the enemy's strategy, mount guard over what goes into your mind through the gates. Do not feed your eyes on anything that fuels lustful passion. That is how to be strong.
