At first, when my heart went towards my wife as the one I would marry, I thought I was lusting. I had stopped praying for a life partner because God did not answer me when I expected.  I began to fast and pray against the spirit of lust. I engaged brother Femi Akinbode in that prayer.

We met in Jos and prayed in an uncompleted building under the sun. The uncompleted building shook that day but I knew God would be laughing at us. We were just sincere in our prayers because we don't want lust to consume us as young leaders.

After that prayer session, we returned to our various stations and it was as though I had a relief. Not long after, the impression I had in my spirit became stronger.

Anytime I prayed, It became stronger in my spirit that she would be my wife. I did not talk/ propose marriage to her until about ten months later after I have prayed to the point where doubts do not exist.

Let me teach you how to handle the impressions you have in your spirit especially If you are not sure it is from God.  The first thing to do is to go back to God in prayers and let him know how you feel about it. Be as sincere as you can.

The moment you are sincere with God, he will make those things impressed on your spirit clearer. His peace will flood your heart to the point where you will never mistake his leading for another. In the process, he may confirm it through other sources.

Further, I'll counsel you don't rush. Like me, I stayed for months doing the same thing just to be sure. I spent extensive time praying in the Spirit, sharpening my spirit with the word and I related closely with her to discern her person. I don't want to confuse emotions with the leading of the spirit.

In the things of the Spirit, it is better to be slow and get it right than to rush things and miss it. Take your time in prayers to pray about the signals you are getting. You can set aside a particular time of the day to pray about it daily.

Don't be quick to assume every inward impression is from God. Satanic impression may come strong at the beginning but it will fade with time. However, If it is from God, it may come faintly at the beginning, If you give it time and you do not cease to pray, it becomes stronger by the day.
