One challenge I have seen among some brethren is getting clarity as regards direction on life issues and crucial decisions to be made.
Some are praying hoping to see a vision or fall into trance. Some are constantly awaiting an audible voice to speak to them from heaven. I use to be like this too.
In time past, I have fasted and prayed for days hoping to hear an audible voice speak from heaven thunderously but nothing of such happened. I thank God Satan did not seize those moments to manipulate me. Satan mimicks encounters. That's why you should not seek spectacular encounters.
There is a better way to getting clarity on issues that are unclear to you. I have practiced this for years and it is still working for me and will always work. Amen
Essentially, man is spirit, with a soul living in a body (1Thes5:23). With our bodies, we contact the physical world, with our souls we contact the intellectual realm while we contact the spirit realm with our spirit.
Divine direction is gotten from the spirit realm so it comes via a spirit to spirit channel. Those who have not mastered the art of opening the channel of their spirit may never get direction and clarity for the Holy Spirit.
The bible says, "The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being"( Prov 20:27 NIV).
If the human spirit is so important in receiving divine signals and clarity, then, we must pay attention to our spirit more closely. The human spirit is a receiver of signals. It can be dull and it can be sharp in its reception.
Anytime I teach on this, I use the concept of the old manual transistor radios. One would have to tune it using a knob until it gets to the frequency of the radio station. When tuned to the right frequency, the station becomes clear.
Before getting to the right frequency, the radio station would have been working and broadcasting but you may not hear until you tune to the right frequency where you can pick broadcast signals. That is also how our spirit works in relation to picking signals from heaven.
God is ever speaking but we are not always hearing probably because our spirits are dull. Our spirits are not tuned properly to the frequency of heaven broadcast service.
The way to sharpen your spirit is by praying in tongues: "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;... For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth,..." (1 Cor 14: 4,14).
The way to build your spirit and make its reception sharp is by praying in tongues always. When you make this a daily practice even if it is 30 minutes daily, you will notice something come alive in you. It may not be dramatic but you will observe some unusual things.
