TABITHA INVESTMENT SCHEME

Acts 9:36 *There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor*. NLT⁹

Most of us are familiar with the story of a kind hearted woman named Tabitha in the bible. She invested her resources in helping the poor. This is what I call Tabitha investment scheme.

She took ill and died. Her body was prepared for burial. The poor people whom she had helped heard that Peter was around. They sent for him quickly. Tabitha was too good to be buried quickly. Peter responded to the call.

When Peter arrived, the widows showed Peter the clothes she made for them. Peter prayed and she came back to life. The news spread all over. There are lessons I want us to learn from this story.

1.# You don't have to be the richest before helping the poor.

The bible never said Tabitha was the richest. I am sure there were richer people in Joppa. She did what she did because she loved the Lord and the poor. Don't wait until you have all the money before helping the poor. Helping the poor is scriptural.

"Every time you give to the poor you make a loan to the Lord. Don’t worry—you’ll be repaid in full for all the good you’ve done"  (Pr 19:17 TPT).

Romans 12:13 Take a constant interest in the needs of God’s beloved people and respond by helping them. And eagerly welcome people as guests into your home. TPT

Galatians 6:10 Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!

2.# Your investment in the poor will yield when it matters

If Tabitha had not helped the poor, they wouldn't have sought for Peter's spiritual help to bring her back to life. They were ready to do anything to keep her alive because her existence was valuable to them. This is the value of Tabitha's investment in the poor.

If you die today, will anyone miss you? Are there people who wouldn't mind praying&fasting to get you back alive if you die?

Action Point:

I am inviting you to start your own Tabitha investment scheme today. There are poor people around you. Do something to lift them out of poverty. It is just a matter of time, it is an investment that will pay off.
