I know some people who are good examples of Paul's counsel. They have set aside certain amounts at certain times to help those in need. They don't do it monthly but occasionally. Sometimes, about 4-5 times in a calendar year.
At certain times of the year, they normally reachout to me to search for people with certain life challenges that can be helped with money. I am their charity consultant kind of. In fact, I do the distribution and I send receipts to them.
This they do anonymously. They don't even want the beneficiaries of their benevolence to say thank you because they are doing it as unto the Lord. These people are not even the richest in the world but they have a good heart and I often pray God to bless them more because they have shown they will do more If they have more.
One of the reasons God gives wealth to his children is so that they can do good unto others. It is anti biblical to be wealthy and not generous. Generosity is one of the marks of financial stewardship in the kingdom.
When I hear people say some people are so wealthy they don't know what to do with money, If true, it shows those class of wealthy people do not know God.
The Holy Spirit cannot be living in you as a rich person without him pointing you to people in need and how they can be empowered to stay out of poverty.
The Christian rich man must be good unto others with his wealth without making noise about it. He should not be found in the company of those who boast about how they'll render others useless with money and those who live ostentiously.
Ostentatious living is an enemy of doing good with money. Satan uses it to divert the attention of God's children away from those that could be helped and lifted out of poverty.
Why buy a wristwatch of $1 million dollars that won't tell you the time of Jesus return?
This may not make sense to you but to a man like me with a global missionary vision, who have missionaries in need and poor people to help, it matters to me. Do you know people die because they can't afford medications that are not up to ten thousand naira (N10,000)?
Dearest, use earthly riches to do good and stop living to impress people whose life you have never added value to.
