Exodus19:5-6 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites”
MINDSET LAUNDRY
Slavery affects the mind primarily because of its dehumanizing effect. Till date, countries and continents brutally enslaved in the past has traces of mindset damage passed from one generation to the next.
Even after independence, the generation of slaves still look up to their master's children for survival. That is freedom not independence. True independence is a state of the mind functioning rightly not just a proclamation.
This is one of the things God doesn't want for the Israelites. They were slaves for years in Egypt. Generations were born into slavery and thus their mindset was that of a slave.
If a Jewish couple in slavery gave birth to a child during those years in Egypt, the child wouldn't know what freedom is because from childhood to adulthood, servitude under harsh condition was the order of the day.
The thought of such a child would be warped and wired to think like a slave and not a free born.
God's original intention for the nation of Israel was to make them a kingdom of priests and holy nation whose influence would be unmatched.
There was no way they would have fulfilled the desire of God If they hadn't passed through the wilderness. God seized the opportunity of their sojourn to do a mental laundry on them so they can see themselves the way He sees them.
God knew that if they had passed through the shortest route to the promised land, He wouldn't have had the opportunity to change their mindset. It would be disastrous to enter the promised land with the mindset of a slave.
You need to know who you are in Christ and exercise your rights and privileges in Him but it is impossible to manifest your believer's authority without a challenge demanding for the exercise of your authority in Christ.
There are things God permits so that we can learn how to exercise our faith, understand our royal status and take authority.
Slaves cannot command, only kings do but when a king thinks, talk and act like a slave, he needs a mental laundry.
The wilderness experience gives you the opportunity to renew your mind through God's word, to reveal who you are in Christ and to take charge like a king that you are.
Father, I receive grace to allow God's word transform my thinking In Jesus name
