Mark4: 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
Several years ago, I had an unforgettable experience traveling on the sea when I decided to visit some brethren on the Island.
Our journey started on the lagoon and we sailed on the Atlantic ocean for about 30 minutes before getting to our destination.
When we got on the Atlantic, we had a funny experience that brought fear into the hearts of everyone in the fibre boat.
The turbulence was great and the boat driver said in pidgin: "e don red" meaning things have become bad. We were told that the waves could break our boat apart leading to accident.
When I heard that, my faith flew into the sea. After a while, I began to pray in tongues and the situation became better.
It is easy to preach about the faithlessness of the disciples when they were in the storm but you never can tell what your reaction would be if you were in their shoes.
Storms represent life's challenges. Sometimes, we find ourselves in stormy situations that challenge our faith. At that moment, it may look as If our world is crashing with no one to help.
The intensity of the storm may be so much to the extent of forgetting all faith lessons we have learnt. This is one thing you should never forget: "Jesus is right there with you in the storm".
The assurance of His presence is vital in stilling the storms of life. The disciples didn't fail to recognize the presence of Jesus in the storm. They called on him to still the storm and He did.
Dearest, the master is right there with you in the storm of life. The devil will try to make you feel forgotten, deserted and guilty, know that Jesus is right there with you and he's ready to still the raging storm If you call on him.
Jesus, I thank you because I know you're with me in the storm of life. I rebuke the storm of adversity(..specify) in Jesus name.
