CHARACTER REFINERY (A)

Have you watched 'Roots'? If you haven't, please do. It has some some historical value. I was privileged to watch it years back.

It is the story of how slave merchants captured a teenage boy from Gambia to America. It is the true life story of Kinta Kunteh.

In the slave camp, murmuring, grumbling&rebellion was a common character among the slaves. The rebellious action of Kinta Kunteh led to the amputation of his feet by his slave masters.

He became bitter towards them and passed it on to generations after him. Till date, the black race especially the African Americans still have that subtle bitterness in them against the whites till date.

One of the reasons for the wilderness experience is to refine our character. The Israelites were slaves for many years in Egypt.

One character that is common to people who have had inhumane treatment is bitterness, murmuring&rebellion. God knew they couldn't enter into the promised land with that character.

He took them through the wilderness so that He can deal with that character. In Exodus16:2, they murmured and we were told that the destroyer( devil) destroyed some of them(Israelites) because they murmured(1Cor10:10).

What God was trying to deal with in their lives ended up destroying them because they failed to submit to His dealings in their lives. The wilderness season can only turn out well for you If you submit to God's dealings.

There are habits&characters that may bring you down when you climb the ladder of glory; the reason why God has permitted some delay in your life is to deal with those habits. If not dealt with by God, you may mess things up.

What Samson failed to deal with brought him down and destroyed him. Some singles are praying for a life partner but what can destroy their marriage resides in them, yet they wonder why God hasn't settled them. God is not interested in failed marriages.

Let God use this trying times to work on you and refine your character so that we can speak like Jesus who said: "...for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me"(John 14:30 KJV).

Action point

Father, take me to your refinery and refine my character through the word and by your Spirit In Jesus name.
