LIVING PURE IN A SEX CRAZY WORLD Pt.12

1Cor 6:18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

TAKE THE NEXT FLIGHT

Of all the sins in the bible, the only sin we were told to flee from is the sin of sexual immorality. The Greek word "Pheugo"( flee, run, avoid) was used by Paul in the opening text deliberately. It has both figurative and literal meaning denoting avoidance or escape. That was what Joseph did when Mrs Potiphar wanted to lure him to bed. Sexual emotions is so powerful such that you don't speak in tongues in the face of temptation. No amount of fire you carry, if you don't know how to take the next flight, you may become a victim. As said earlier, "Pheugo" doesn't necessarily mean running away physically ( though that should be done when needed), it is simply avoidance. In other words, ever before temptation comes, you have set healthy boundaries that will prevent you from falling. That is what it means to flee or run from sexual immorality. The statement is a statement of command. Running from sexual immorality is a must not optional especially in this perverse generation.

One of my role models in ministry once said that he will never employ a female secretary. That's his own method of "Pheugo". Don't say 'that's too harsh,' he knows his weaknesses and what may happen having a female secretary or P.A.going everywhere with him and being alone in the office till odd hours. Those who always think they can handle compromising situations always fall victim of sexual sin. If electric current surge through your body whenever you shake or hug a lady, it is in your best interest to avoid it. Billy Graham and his team in their Modesto Manifesto decided they will never be alone with any woman aside their wife. Do you say it is extreme? Well, there's nothing that's too much to stay secure. The writer of Hebrew(12:4) said, "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin."

Don't be careless. It is dangerous to assume you don't need to avoid sexual immorality because of your spirituality or strength. Your strength against sexual immorality is in avoidance and taking bible based precaution. Don't tempt yourself with what you cannot handle saying "its no big deal". Why co habit with your fiancée saying "we have grace for self control". That grace will turn to disgrace very soon. Those dangerous body contacts can spark a flame that may not quench easily. You don't need to be told that you should never stay alone with the opposite sex. Even if you don't have feelings for each other, just avoid it, at least to avoid being raped. I see funny questions singles ask, "should we kiss in relationship "? My answer is always "don't kiss". I know some Christian marriage counselors are beginning to say things like "kiss if you can handle it". The flesh always think it can handle certain things like this but time has proven that the result is not always favourable. Dear, you cannot handle it. That's playing with fire and you'll burn. The bible says, "Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire? Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet?" ( Prov6:27-28). You have the answer to those questions already. Don't try to manage that compromising situation. If that person around you is becoming an object of lust and fantasy, do all that is within your power to avoid him/ her. There are people you should avoid calling or chatting with because if you continue to do so, you'll be fanning the embers of lust. It is better to be safe than to be sorry. Flee!

Action point

I refuse to be hunted, dominated and conquered on the bed of sexual immorality in the name of Jesus. I receive grace to conquer every demonic agent like Delilah sent on a mission to my life in Jesus name. My destiny and glory is preserved in Jesus name.
