AVENUES FOR EXPLANATION- BIBLE SCHOOL
When it dawned on me that I needed to learn the scriptures formally not just from books or what some teachers of the word said, I applied and filled the form of one of the best theological schools in the country. We were demanded to get a referee to attest to our character and readiness to learn. I took my form to one of the most senior Pastors in my church so that he can be my referee. When he saw the form, he asked if I needed to attend a bible school. I knew that question came up because he had heard me teach and in his own assessment, I was good but within me, I knew I needed explanation about so many things.
Prior to that time, I didn't see any reason why I should submit to learning the scriptures formally. There was that arrogance and subtle pride about having known the scriptures through the numerous books I've read and through listening to those I felt were sound bible teachers. Organized learning revealed my scriptural ignorance to me and those I thought were bible scholars. In your quest to understand the scriptures better, without equivocation, you need to learn from sound and Spirit-filled bible scholars in a well organized bible school with sound curriculum.
I wish every believer get the right explanation of scriptures from true bible scholars. Do not say, "I am just an ordinary Christian, worker or church member, I don't need formal bible training, that's for preachers". That is not true. There is no crime in learning and adding value of scriptural knowledge. In my observation, other religions in the world value training and schooling their adherents in heresy from a tender age but it is only in the church I see that theological training is reserved for preachers. If truly you love the Lord and you want to understand His word more, seize any opportunity to learn the Bible formally.
