DEVELOP A SUCCESS ROUTINE

September 04, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

john18:2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. NIV

In the opening text, we were told that Judas found it easy to betray Jesus because he knew the place where Jesus was often. In that place, he often met with his disciples. What does he do in that place often? Why that particular place? Though the scriptures did not tell us the activities that took place there often but I can infer that prayer, meditation and discipleship teaching took place there often. Don't forget that he was betrayed after praying in the garden of Gethsemane. So the place was not far from there because he crossed Kidron valley into the place. Jesus had a healthy routine that was obvious to his disciples.

The crux of my emphasis today is on developing a routine or habit that makes for success. I perceive that Jesus chose that place to avoid distraction so that he can commune with the father and develop his disciples. One of the traits of successful people is that they have a daily routine of paying the price for success. People become successful because of what they do daily or often not because of what they do occasionally. An ancient orator was known to practice fluent public speaking by putting stones in his mouth while talking. A great basketball player had a routine of making 500 throws daily targeting the basket. He became a master on the field because he had practiced so well. Another saxophonist who plays creatively spent minimum of 6 hours daily in practice.

Success in life is not an event, it is a product of daily healthy habit. I heard about an anointed man of God who doesn't sleep without praying for 3 hours at night. Charles Finney had a prayer routine of 4 hours daily. Evans Robert had a regular fellowship time in the midnight, that was what birth the great Welsh revival. Kenneth E. Hagin made praying in tongues a regular exercise, that was what launched him into the supernatural. I used these examples because I'm ministry inclined. I'm sure that if you look into the lives of great men in your field or career, they have healthy routines. When you meet successful people, ask about their routine, that's the secret of their success. In your pursuit, develop a healthy routine that would stand you out from others.
