Acts8:4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. NIV
I went to preach in a former British colony in West Africa. I found mosques everywhere and I noticed that the percentage of believers was minute. Idol worship was celebrated as if it was a big achievement. I discovered that Moslems in that land had bible names like John, Joseph, etc but they weren't Christians. I asked my interpreter what was responsible for that. He told me that during the civil war, muslim soldiers from other countries that came for peace-keeping mission seized the opportunity to preach the message of Islam to the people. Majority accepted the message and they became an adherent of the Islamic faith. The question I asked was, ' what were the Christian soldiers doing'?
After Stephen was martyred, the disciples of Christ spread to different parts of the world because of persecution but they did not cease to preach the gospel everywhere they went. It seemed to me that everyone in the early church was a mobile evangelist or preacher. They were hungry to see souls saved. Evangelism was not left for the likes of Peter, James, John, Matthew and other twelve disciples. The result of their collective involvement in evangelism was that they evangelized the then known world in two years not twenty years, Acts19:10. I have always known that the great commission is finish able if all believers of Christ take it personal.
God has different mechanisms of scattering His people so that they can spread the gospel. In some cases, it is persecution as it was for the early church. If there was no persecution, the gospel may not have spread to the whole of Asia. Today, God is using other mechanisms to scatter his people for missions some of which includes: academic scholarship opportunities, job transfer, business opportunities abroad, military missions, vacation trips and many more. I noticed that people of other religions take their faith along everywhere they go and they seek to influence their host with their faith. As a believer, don't drop your faith at the airport, share the gospel everywhere and be mission minded.
father, I receive the grace to spread the gospel everywhere In Jesus name.
