FOR CHURCH GROWTH
On the day of Pentecost, three thousand people were added to the church after the preaching of Peter. In Acts chapter 3, God used Peter and John to perform an outstanding miracle at the beautiful gate. There was a crippled man who begged for alms but his story changed after he was miraculously healed. Everyone around saw this outstanding miracle. That made Peter and John face the religious rulers because they were afraid at the rapid growth of the church. In Acts 4, we were told that five thousand men were added to the church after Peter preached. The people that were added had seen the miracles that God did through Peter and John, so it made their conversion and assimilation into the church easy.
Miracles is God's way of advertising his church. It brings about numerical growth though numerical growth is not the only aspect of growth a church needs. However, there's no genuine Pastor who would love to preach to benches every Sunday. It is nice to see more people added to the church so that we can reach more people with God's word. The 5000 that were added to the church were not just mixed multitude, they believed first, that is they got born again first. It was after their salvation they were added to the church.
We need genuine miracles in our churches today not arranged miracles. I believe that true miracles would prove the Lordship of Jesus to the people and ultimately lead to their salvation after which they would be added to the church. God can use you as an instrument of growth in your local assembly. As an usher or greeter, if your handshake alone can cure cancer, you can be so sure that alot of people would queue to shake your hands before entering the church. As a Pastor or preacher, when your members know that unction would be released to solve their problems, they'll invite others to your church. Your responsibility is to ensure that as people come towards the church because of the miraculous, get them saved and discipled so that they would turn from miracle-seekers to Jesus followers.
Father, I receive the grace to operate in the miraculous In Jesus name.
