Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

THE POWER TEST- MEEKNESS UNDER WATCH

I was at a suya( roasted beef) spot sometimes ago. I stood at the extreme end of the line of those wanting to buy suya. The fruit seller beside the suya seller began to shout at me not to block her. I moved though I wasn't blocking her. The man beside me became visibly angry with her because she was fond of shouting at people who come to buy suya. The man told me that he would organize an evening raid that would send every trader in that spot packing with the exemption of the suya seller. He said he would prove how powerful he was to the woman so that she would learn how to talk. I perceived he was a senior police officer or military man so I told him not to show how powerful he was. That's a lesson in the school of meekness.

The English word 'meekness' is not properly translated or defined in English if we consider the way it was used in the Greek bible. The new testament was originally written in Greek. The word 'meek or meekness'can best be translated as 'strength under control'. The description is that of a powerful war horse under the control of his master. The horse is powerful but his power is under control. That's the bible way to describe meekness. How does this relate to what we are discussing? One of the test every child of God aspiring to climb the ladder glory must take is the test of meekness. God want to see what you will do with power so he'll allow you have a little taste of it. So many glory climbers have failed the test of meekness. There are those who use anointing to curse or to take advantage of people financially.

I remember the story of a corpers' fellowship president who had those that undressed him and read Bible into his hearing while he sleeps on the bed. I was an active student leader and I saw several anomalies all in the name respecting the office of the 'president'. I have asked severally, "where are some of those campus Pastors of yesteryears that lived like Lords"? We thought some would leave school and become great preachers but we missed it there. Heaven is saying that some failed the meekness test. We saw the glamour of their office, how their mates were compelled to wash and iron their clothes, cook for them and even carry their bibles but God's score sheet is reading ten over hundred. Some would have become greater than we thought but they failed the test of meekness when they were given little power. Every man desiring a new level of glory in God must pass the test of meekness before moving to the next level. That office is a test. Don't use your power to take advantage of people or to show how powerful you are to those that offend you.
