Acts 8:30-31 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. NIV
GET EXPLANATION
I love the Ethiopian eunuch because he was sincere about his ignorance of the scriptures. Philip asked him a simple question, 'do you understand what you are reading'? The Ethiopian eunuch answered, "How can i," that was his initial response. He went further to say, "unless someone explains it to me?". He was humble enough to admit his need for an explanation. Aside being taught the scriptures by the Holy Spirit, we all need explanation on scriptures.
The Holy Spirit can teach us everything we need to know in the scriptures yet He has not taught anyone everything in the scriptures, at least I don't know anyone at that level for now. However, God has placed teachers with deep scriptural insight in the body of Christ to explain the scriptures to us. God knew before the world began that we all won't have the same level of comprehension and sensitivity to the Spirit, so He has placed Spirit-filled men on our path to explain the scriptures to us.
There are folks that have chosen not to attend church or any believer's gathering because they feel the Holy Spirit will teach them everything yet when you interact with these people, their scriptural ignorance stinks to the highest heaven. Be humble. Admit your ignorance like the Ethiopian Eunuch and ask for explanation. If truly you have the Spirit of God in you and you've submitted yourself to his leading, he would direct you to where you will get the right explanation on scriptures. A Bible believing church with sound leadership remains a good avenue for getting scriptural explanation.
Do you belong to a local assembly where the word of God is taught? If there's no time for thorough bible-based teaching in the place you call church, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you elsewhere. Why? Because without the word, you cannot grow spiritually.
