KINDS OF PRAYERS Pt.6-PRAYER OF INTERCESSION

February 06, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Ezekiel22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Many Christians have a misconstrued understanding of what intercession is. Intercession means to stand in the gap for someone deserving of judgement. Intercessory prayer is a type of prayer prayed to hold back judgement on sinners and bring down mercy.

In Genesis18:23-32, Abraham interceded for Sodom&Gomorrha. Modern day Christians do not understand this priestly type of prayer because most of our prayers are self-centred and demanding for self only. How many times have you interceded for the lost in your vicinity?

Men like Father Nash, John Hyde and the

Morovians are classic examples of what real intercession is in our time. Before Charles Finney starts any crusade, Father Nash would go to the crusade venue days before and cry for the salvation of lost souls in fasting, the Morovians interceded for 100 years and John Hyde became an intercessory prayer consultant in his time- just for the lost.

Interceding for the lost is the proof that selfishness has been eliminated from your prayer life.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to intercede for the lost In Jesus name. Amen
