KINDS OF PRAYERS Pt.4-PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

February 04, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Luke22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

What is consecration? Consecration is setting apart and cleansing for a purpose. That is why when you see an ordination advert or programme, they'll say that they want to consecrate some people as priests or Bishops. That word connotes setting apart for a purpose.

In prayer of consecration, you are permitted to use the phrase 'If it is your will'. You cannot end every prayer with 'If it is your will Lord' because when the will of God is known on a matter as revealed in the word, you only need to ask in faith. It is God's will to heal you, bless you and grant you the desires of your heart because God's word has revealed that unto us. We only ought to use that phrase when the will of God is not known especially as it relates to kingdom assignment.

If you are perceiving God's call on your life but you are not sure whether to start ministry or where to go, when praying the prayer of consecration which implies submitting to God's will, you can use that phrase because you don't know the total counsel of God on that matter. When you're praying for healing, it is wrong and counter productive to say 'If it be thy will, Father heal me'. It has been revealed in God's word that healing belongs to you.

Action point

Ask for God's will to be done in areas of your life where His perfect will hasn't been revealed unto you.
