1Tim3:2 So an elder must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. NLT
In the new testament, the word elder refers to a minister. In the early church, the Pastors-in-charge were referred rto as elders. It is a privilege to be called into ministry but on the other hand, it is a delicate assignment. I know a man of God who had a unique anointing, he had a strong healing anointing but he fell into the sin of sexual immorality. He now became a man whose matter was subject to debate when considering whom to invite for a program because of his character flaws.
The life of a minister of the gospel must be above reproach. God has placed us on a hill where everything about us cannot be hidden. Apostle Paul made it clear that an elder (a minister) must be faithful to his wife; it is very easy for a minister to be unfaithful maritally because the anointing attracts women. Ask Samson.
It is good to be called into the ministry but it is the most delicate assignment on earth. You'll be tempted with money, women and power. God's expectation of you as a minister is to live a pure life that is worth emulating. All eyes are on you and you must live up to God's expectation. Be above reproach.
Father, I receive grace to live above reproach In Jesus name. Amen
