Russel Cornwell in his book 'Acres of Diamond' told the story of a man who heard that there was abundance of diamond in a distant land. He sold his farm to go search for diamond in that part of the country. He did all he could to get diamond in the distant land but his effort proved abortive. One day, the man that bought his farm land saw a shiny stone by the stream that passed through the farm. Alas! It was a diamond. He later discovered that the farm land he bought was a huge reserve of diamond. That was how he became wealthy. Isn't that the story of some people?
Everyone desires the proverbial diamond. We work for it and we are in search of diamond all over. It is the reason why many from third World countries are queuing at the embassy yet the diamond they are looking for yonder is right beside them but they can't see it. Diamond could be money, comfort or a better life. Isaac wanted to relocate from his base to Egypt because there was famine. Economic hardship is not new to the world. It has been right from Bible days. People were migrating in search of a better life. When Isaac wanted to move, God instructed him to stay. We can liken Isaac's story to the man that heard about the goodies of a distant land but received an instruction from God to stay where people thought nothing good could happen.
There's a mindset common to certain people in this part of the world that if they don't relocate abroad, they can't make it. They easily forget that a lizard in Africa would never turn to a crocodile in Europe. Some folks think there's a magic they perform abroad that makes people rich. I'm sorry to burst your bubbles, they work for every penny and pay for all convenience. Before you pack your bags to go search for diamond in a distant land, be very sure you're not sitting on diamond where you are. Further, I want you to be a direction seeking believer. Don't get me wrong, God has something good waiting for some people out there but changing location must be based on divine direction so that you don't miss out on God's will for your life where you are. Don't join the bandwagon of diamond chasers until you hear clearly from God whether to go or not. Sometimes, there are great opportunities in hard places but you need the sixth sense(divine direction) to see them.
