Eph5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Often, I make music from my heart and hum the melody. From my heart, I've composed several songs undocumented . I could be on the road and I'll receive inspiration to make music from my heart. This should be a regular occurrence in your life as a believer that is filled with the Holy Spirit. If you check the history of the hymns we sing in church, some of them were composed during trying times that the composer faced. Horatio Spafford is an example. He composed : "It is well with my soul" after he suffered a great loss. Your ability to maintain the joy of the Lord during trials tells more about your level of spiritual maturity.
When a man is filled with the Spirit, the things that would make others cry would make him erupt in thanksgiving. A man that is immersed in the Spirit will not find it hard making melody from his heart even when things seems unfavourable. Making music from your heart has nothing to do with whether you have a good voice or not. It is a spiritual thing. What about singing in tongues? Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians in chapter 5 verse 18 enjoined believers to be filled with the Spirit. He continued further in the verse after by telling them to speak with one another using Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. He recommended that we make music from our heart. I so much fall in love with verse 20 because he made it clear that in everything(regardless of circumstances or condition) we should give thanks. Hallelujah!!
I want you to approach life with this attitude henceforth. As you walk on the road, watch t. v. or maybe when you receive an unpleasant news, let the channel of your Spirit open to make music unto the Lord. The joy of the Lord is not dependent on happenings, it depend on your connection with the Holy Ghost. The goal of the enemy is to make you depressed, gloomy and sad but the Spirit of God in you will put songs of joy in your heart. Don't let the devil steal your song. Just stay connected to the Spirit.
Father, I receive grace to make music from my heart at all times In Jesus name. Amen
