One of my old friend lost his mum. Let's call that friend Kay. After sometime, his dad remarried but Kay's step mother had series of miscarriages after marrying his dad. They prayed and fasted but the same problem re occurred for a period of time. Later, God revealed that they received a gift that was bewitched. That gift was placed on their television in the living room. God told them to get rid of that gift item. They obeyed God, thereafter, the woman began to make babies.
One of the secrets of victory in the battles of life is divine revelation. You need the Holy Spirit to reveal the source of that challenge you're facing. There are battles that may not be won fully until you discover the root of the battle. Kenneth E. Hagin said that most times, when ministering to people, you need to trust God for a revelation about the root cause of the issue you want to pray about. I've found that to be true in some cases of deliverance. I have ministered to a young lad that had occasional insanity. Once I'm with him, the demon of insanity would stop talking through him but as soon as I leave, the demon would resume duty.
Though I didn't receive a revelation about the root cause of that problem but God arranged a revelatory meeting where this boy's mother met the first wife of the boy's father whom she deposed and treated badly. It was the prayer of that hurting woman that healed the boy after she forgave the mother. That's an open revelation. Whichever way it happens, you need God to reveal to you the reason why you've been fighting the same battle over and over. Not all challenges are caused by demons,it could be self-inflicted, however you need to know by revelation . In spiritual warfare, revelation is a precursor to victory. God is a secret revealing father, if you ask Him, He would show you.
Father, reveal to me the root cause (...mention the challenge) in Jesus name.
