Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.KJV
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN A LOCAL CHURCH
There are people who would say things like: "Church is in my mind, I can pray and worship God in my room". These days, there is a high level campaign against the church today partly because of certain ills within the church but those reasons are not strong enough for anyone to abandon the gathering of believers. Even in the days of Jesus Christ, it was customary for him to attend synagogue meetings(Luke4:16) even though the Pharisees, scribes and Saducees were corrupt and evil. There was nothing the Pharisees and the scribes taught from the Torah that he doesn't know yet he was regular in the synagogue because fellowshiping with others matter to God. You cannot do without the family of God.
Some felt they've known all about the bible. They don't see any reason to sit under a Pastor. That's the wrong spirit that comes with little knowledge sometimes. There are those that feel listening to a radio or television preacher is enough. If you're in that category, you need to change. If you need someone to christen your child or to join you in holy matrimony, can you employ the service of that radio or t.v.preacher? Of course not. Books, messages and radio broadcast or even online streaming of services cannot replace your physical presence in a church service. Church is the place where we experience corporate anointing. Something happens when we come together to pray and lift up holy hands in worship(Acts4:31).
Apostle Paul called the church the pillar and ground of truth(1Tim3:15). Which truth? The truth of God's word. You can hear the truth from other sources as well but the church would ground you in that truth of the bible through a structured discipleship system. So why shouldn't you be part of a living church? No matter how bad some churches are, there are thousands of genuine churches all over. Several doctrines and teachings are flying around and it is evident that two churches may not believe in the same thing but as long as they believe in the fundamentals of the faith, that's fine. We cannot achieve uniformity in the body of Christ but unity is possible. Jesus is the head of His church. He want you to be part of that church. You cannot worship God in isolation, identify with God's family.
Father, I receive the grace to join my family members in the church and to be committed In Jesus name. Amen.
