CLEARING MISCONCEPTIONS
I grew up hearing that a good son is for his father but a bad one belongs to the mother. Invariably they are saying that when things turn out well for a child, the father takes the glory because he is responsible for the outcome of that child's life but when the child turns bad or becomes wayward, it is the fault of the mother. That is a traditional belief but It doesn't reflect the absolute truth of the scriptures. There are men that laid on their wives the burden of training the children alone. It is totally anti bible. The training of our children must be a joint task.
God was proud of Abraham because he knew that Abraham would instruct his household and teach them the ways of God(Gen18:19).Abraham is our father in the faith, his action automatically places the burden of training on the father as the chief trainer in the home but what do we have today? We have absentee fathers that are either lost in the world to pleasures of sin or fathers that are married to their jobs thinking all their children and wife need is money. That error is one of the reasons for dysfunctional homes today. The Recabites lived according to their father's( Jehonadab) instruction after his death(Jer35:1-10). That goes to show that when he was alive, he gave them sound instructions about what ought to be.
Fathers, it is time for you to arise. Arise and awake to your responsibility. Whatever happens to the heritage of God in your care shall be accounted for by you. You must arise and take your place as the Priest, Prophet and king of your home. You must be able to serve your family fresh word from God when needed.You must be so connected to heaven to the point where your children can find God's word on your lips per time. It is good and biblical to provide for your family but be there for them in times when they need godly counsel and guidance. When women play manly roles, they become stressed emotionally even physically because it is against the order of creation. Fathers, arise.
Father of all fathers, we pray that you bring men in the kingdom to realize what their roles are and give them the grace to play their roles actively In Jesus name. Amen
