2Kings4:27 When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me why." NIV
DO PROPHETS KNOW EVERYTHING?
Prophet Elisha was a beneficiary of the Shunamite woman. God also used him to prophesy the birth of a son to her because she was barren for sometime. This young boy grew but one day, he died. The mother ran to meet Elisha on the mountain. He noticed she was distressed. Gehazi, his assistant made attempt to push her away but the man of God cautioned him against that action. The statement of Elisha caught my attention: "She is in bitter distress, but the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me why". One would think that a Prophet of Elisha's status (the carrier of double anointing) knew God's mind on all issues at all times but it was not so. God didn't reveal that situation to him.
What about Elijah? In his distressed and discouraged state, he told the Lord that he was the only surviving prophet of Jehovah but God told him he had 7,000 prophets that had not bowed to Baal nor kissed him(1Kings19:14-18). I expect a national prophet like Elijah to know that supernaturally but he was ignorant about it. The point here is that there is no prophet that knows everything. One fundamental mistake I see a lot of believers making in this generation is that they have not developed their spirit man to hear from their father. They delegate hearing from God to prophets thinking that a Prophet knows all things at all times in all situations. That's a grave error. The moment a man knows all things at all times in all situations, he becomes omniscient and that's impossible. God cannot share his attributes with mere mortals.
Beware of those that are telling you to come for prophetic consultation. That's a glorified diviner and soothsayer. If any prophet tells you that he can give everyone a word of knowledge at all times in all situations, I doubt if he's operating by the Spirit of God. People like that may cook up "thus saith the Lord" when the Lord has not spoken because they have put themselves under pressure to perform. The gifts of revelation ( word of knowledge, word of wisdom and discerning of spirits) only work as the Holy Spirit wills not as the prophet wills. That's why one could be in a meeting where a prophet would minister to Mr 'A' through word of knowledge/wisdom and Mr 'B' would not be ministered to. That's not the fault of the prophet. To be led by God, develop your spirit to become sensitive and receptive to his leading. God is your father, you're a son and not a bastard. You should be hearing from your father.
CONFESSION: I receive grace to cultivate deep fellowship with my father. I am a sheep, I am not a goat. I hear the voice of the Great Shepherd henceforth, in Jesus name. Amen
