Isaiah52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
My mum told me about a commercial bus driver who complained about fighting bus conductors which has become rampant. He said that since the time genuine preachers stopped preaching in the bus, that was when fighting became rampant in buses. I believe he was referring to genuine preachers not those seeking to collect people's monies in buses. There's a level of truth in his observation. Anywhere the gospel is preached, peace is released into the atmosphere. I have preached to area boys in notorious places. No matter how bad, rash and notorious, whenever the word of God is being preached, they're always calm. I have seen this happen severally. The word of God is powerful.
The message of the gospel brings peace. That is why it is called good news and glad tidings. God's word has a way of sanitizing the lives of people. Though it may not produce result immediately but once the seed is sown and watered with prayers and continuous follow up,there's a high tendency that it would yield positively. I make bold to say that the gospel is the solution to the myriads of problems the world is facing. If we had preached to terrorists on time, they maybe carrying the bible by now instead of Ak-47. United nations is trying to broker peace between nations, rebels and militias but whatever it is they are doing is only temporary. Conversion of soul is much better than pacifying a soul through diplomacy. That's what diplomats are trying to do but the result is temporary. Imagine that those militias are blood washed, tongue-talking and Spirit-filled, with their zeal, they may cover many grounds for the Lord.
Apostle Paul is an example of how the gospel can transform a life. If he hadn't met Jesus, I am not sure any of the twelve Apostles could match his exploit. He was rugged and dogged. While we may not be able to reach the whole world, we can preach to that bad boy in our street. That wayward girl can be changed if you preach the gospel to her. Those we fail to win to the Lord today may become a pain in our neck tomorrow. When you stand to declare God's word in the public, you may be giving hope to someone contemplating suicide. It is possible the future leader of your country may be under your ministration as a teenager. Just imagine that all our leaders are born again and walking worthy of the Lord. I am sure our society won't remain the same. The questions of peace, health and salvation are adequately answered in the gospel. Preach it.
