Acts11:5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was.
TRANCE AND OPEN VISION
The word of God aptly describes to us what trance is. We were told that Apostle Peter fell into a trance while praying on the top of a house, he saw a sheet let down from heaven. Just imagine watching something that looks like a television while your physical senses are suspended. This is what a trance experience looks like. One can fall into trance and remain unconscious for hours seeing great things in the Spirit realm and it can also be for a short duration. God speaks to some people like this. They could be in a gathering but their physical senses would be suspended but they'll be highly alert spiritually seeing things the ordinary eyes cannot see.
Similar to trance is open vision. In this type of vision, all the physical senses would be active and working yet the person would be seeing into the realm of the Spirit. In fact, as the person is seeing visions openly, he would be seeing how people around him are moving and going about their businesses. It would seem as though his physical eyes are seeing two different scenarios at the same time. Often, God allow some prophets to have open visions to enhance their prophetic ministry.That's why they may be talking to you and describing situations to you as though they are there.
However, if God has not established trance and open vision as his pattern of speaking to you, you need not bother him. You duty is to flow with God. Seeing visions and trance is not a mark of spirituality. Further, if the instruction received in an open vision or trance doesn't align with scriptures, discard it. Some preachers want to see open vision so that they can call people's phone number. A father in the Lord told me that he was told to come and receive the power to see visions so that he can be calling people's phone numbers.That's demonic. Some travel outside the country to get this power. Your duty as a child of God is to be in the Spirit at all times so that you can hear him.
