GOD'S DESIRE FOR YOU
When I was much younger in the faith, my understanding about hearing God's voice or being led by the Spirit of God was not in line with scriptures. Whenever some believers claimed to have heard God, I felt it was something for a special set of people. In fact, ' thus saith the Lord' sounded mysterious to me. Sometimes, I try to figure out how they heard God's voice but I was always wrong. The only thing I knew about was dreams but no one taught me about the dynamics of God's leading. At a time, I thought hearing God was a gift but later I discovered that personal leading from God is different from the public ministry of the prophet manifesting through revelation gifts(word of knowledge, word of wisdom and discerning of spirits).
I want to tell you that it is God's desire for you to be led personally. He want to talk to you more than you want to hear him. Why? God does not want you to miss it. When Jesus was on the earth, he told us about one vital ministry of the Spirit that most of us do not subscribe to. He said, "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come" (John16:13). God's desire is not for you to be led by proxy or a special spiritual person. Some thought God's leading must be sought through prophets. They have forgotten that prophetic instruction is not the primary means through which God want to speak to his people, it is just one of the means of hearing from God which is subject to confirmation.
Dearest, God want to commune with you as with a friend. The Abraham type of relationship where he was talking to God as though he was physically present is still possible today. You'll begin to mature in the faith the moment you can discern God's voice and the pattern through which he leads you. Do not surrender to people your right to hear from your father. There are many confusing voices out there. Some want to act as the Holy Spirit in our lives. The moment you subscribe to several leadings aside that of the Spirit, you'll live a confused life. That's the reason why many anti biblical leadings are rife today. You can be led by the Spirit of God.
Father, you promised to lead me. I subscribe to the ministry of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me in all my ways in Jesus name.
