Acts 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, KJV

GOOD BUT FORBIDDEN

In Paul's second missionary journey with Silas, they traveled through phyrgia and Galatian region now in modern Turkey. He(Paul) had the intention of going to Asia to preach the gospel of Christ but the Holy Spirit forbade him from going( to preach the gospel in Asia). That surprised me. I tried to imagine a man burning with the fire of the gospel in his bones. He probably heard about how idolatrous Asia was especially Ephesus and he felt that was a good mission field yet the Holy Spirit told him not to go.

How can the the Spirit of God stop a man who wanted to go and preach the gospel to lost souls? Is that leading not against the great commission? Well, as we walk with God, one of the things we would discover is that good intention is not equal to the leading of the Spirit neither are good intentions the same as being in God's perfect will. One mistake you should avoid is the mistake of acting on good intentions instead of acting on the leading of the Spirit. Not all good intentions are in God's perfect will for our lives.

I use to have 'good' intentions on how I want to run ministry so that I'll be the sole or major financier. As good as my intentions were, all I had in mind to do to achieve that goal was not in God's perfect will. Sometimes, our good intentions maybe in God's perfect will for our lives but our timing for action may be wrong. Though the Spirit forbade Paul from going to Asia in Acts 16, he finally went to Asia(Ephesus) in Acts 18 to preach the goodnews when the time was right. On the other hand, there are good intentions that doesn't have a place in God's will. You must understand that God lead us based on what is in line with his perfect plan for our lives and not necessarily what we think is good for us.

CONFESSION: Father, I receive from you clear leading henceforth. I'll act on your leading not on my good intentions in Jesus name.

Action point

CONFESSION: My dream line shall not be polluted in the name of Jesus
