Psalm40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
THREE-WAY TEST OF INWARD WITNESS(C)
I decided to dwell long on the teaching about inward witness because the inward witness is God's way of leading all his children though we don't recognize it often. We must learn how it works and how we can take advantage it. Another test for inward witness is the patience test. When you perceive a leading from within, don't rush it, please be patient. Patience is a virtue that we all must cultivate when it comes the issue of being led by God. True and genuine leading persist for long and grows into an all-consuming conviction but this takes time.
After I received the leading to marry my wife, at first I thought I was lusting so I began to fast and pray casting away the demon of lust. The more I prayed, the clearer it became in my spirit that she would be my wife. I told some fathers to pray along with me while I related with her normally. It took about 10 months before I proposed marriage to her. I subjected my conviction to time. There was no fear that another brother would take her from me because i knew my lot was secured. God is not in a hurry especially in leading that pertains to your life and destiny. He want you to get it right. We must cultivate the habit of waiting on God properly to be clear on issues. If you're sensitive, you will know the timing to act.
You need patience to ascertain if the witness is genuine and you need patience to know the right timing for action. I have seen people who claimed to have heard God on a matter but they later changed their mind. Why? Probably, they discovered later that it wasn't God that led them. If they had waited long enough in God's presence and subject that leading to godly confirmation, they may have gotten it right. Every genuine leading from God has a timing for action. Don't rush out of God's will for your life.
CONFESSION: I receive the grace to wait patiently on God in the name of Jesus. I am not in haste. I won't rush into error in the name of Jesus.
