AUDIBLE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT
God may choose to speak to his children audibly. It is one of the several ways God speaks to us. In my few years in the faith, i remember vividly that I heard the audible voice of God once. It came to me during a period when I was living in disobedience to God's will. I visited a brother in his room back in school. I heard a voice that sounded audible. I thought someone was playing pranks on me but I found no one around me. The audible voice is the voice of the Holy Spirit to your spirit amplified.
It is only the hearer that can hear it except other persons are privileged by God to hear it. It is believed that most prophets in the old testament heard God audibly because of expressions like: "the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah"(Jer1:4). Till date, there are people whose established pattern of hearing from God is audible. How ever, we should not seek to be led by audible voice of the Spirit. It is wise to let the Holy Spirit lead us in the very best way he deem fit. The bible remains the litmus test for whatever you hear audibly. The audible voice can be manipulated by demons. That's why we have to be careful. Sometimes, I have prayed and fasted waiting on God to speak to me audibly but he didn't.
Those days, i was awed by those who made statements like: "I heard God audibly". I thought hearing God audibly was a mark of spirituality. To be sincere, no amount of fasting and prayer can make God speak in a manner we desire. Every child of God must understand the workings of the inward witness because it is always there even If God did not speak through other spectacular means. Seeking direction in a spectacular way can make us miss the supernatural. If God speaks to others audibly, you have a duty to discover how he speaks to you. What matters is that you're led by God.
