VISION DEMAND FOCUS

There was a preacher who had a vibrant and thriving church, the future of the church was bright. All of a sudden, he jumped at the opportunity to travel to America, hired Pastors and put them in-charge of the church he pioneered. He left for America but that was the end of his ministry. The church is no longer in existence today and painfully, he is late. He lost focus and was distracted by the desire for a better life abroad. To live well is good but not at the neglect of one's assigmoment. If he had been patient some more, his vision may have made his life better than he thought.
There was a time the Jews wanted to crown Jesus as king, John6:15. That was a good idea isn't it? Yes it was but if he had accepted kingship, he may not be delivered up to die for the sins of the world and consequently, mankind would not be saved from sin and death. Probably, Jesus thought about this and he declined. One of the enemies of every God-given vision is distraction. To overcome distraction, you need to focus on your vision and don't look elsewhere.There are good things that would come calling for your attention, they look legitimate and good but they are a huge distraction to the fulfillment of your vision.
From the onset, you need to know the details and specifications of your vision and stick to it. Paul said God didn't send him to baptize anyone, 1Cor1:17. Is it bad to baptize people? Of course it is not bad but as good as baptism is, Paul made it clear that his focus in ministry was not to baptize people but to preach. And we know that his preaching ministry was focused on the gentile nations. The things that distract from the pursuit of vision sometimes are things that look or sound legitimate or good but they are not part of our job description. These distractions would come mostly at the growth and nurturing phase of your vision, stay on your vision.
