Mark16:20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere,...NIV
The late Johann Cruyuff started a playing pattern known as 'tiki-taka'. It is a unique style of playing football that makes a team to be in possession almost through out the game. Not that alone, it makes goal scoring easy because while passing the ball around as the team advance towards their opponent, their defense becomes weaker. Pep Guardiola has won many trophies using this pattern as well. On the football pitch, if a team need to score goals, one major thing they must do is to attack their opponent by advancing towards their goal post. No team can win a match by sitting back in their own goal area.
What does is it mean to advance the kingdom? It is to bring in more souls into the kingdom of God and to spread the gospel to unreached places. When we bring men to the saving knowledge of Christ, we are advancing the kingdom because right from there, the kingdom of God would be established in their hearts. The big cathedrals we build is not kingdom advancement because it won't last for eternity. What qualifies to be tagged as 'Kingdom work' is anything with eternal value. Don't get me wrong, we need good church buildings to gather and make us comfortable but it is not the real deal. The real deal is soul winning, it is discipleship and showing men the way and life of Christ.
Just as it is on the football pitch, we cannot achieve kingdom goals by sitting back and expecting things to happen while we do nothing. We must advance towards the goal area of the enemy. We must always be in possession of the gospel truth. Spiritual warfare is kingdom of light versus kingdom of darkness. The devil is also advancing his kingdom by using all manners of stratagems. He is not relenting in ensuring that men worship him. The media is one tool he uses to advance his kingdom and he has foot soldiers who are on his mission assignment. Kingdom advancement is not a theoretical topic, it is a field work. The command has been given: "Go ye".
Father, I receive the grace to advance the kingdom in Jesus name.
