Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
I TRUST MY DRIVER AND HIS WORD
My dad is a good driver. I trust he will always drive me to my destination safely.
If there's anyone whose driving gave me so much confidence, it is my dad. I have never doubted his ability to drive me safely.
When I was a teenager, I was confident of getting to my destination whenever my dad was driving.
I had little confidence in other drivers because I was once involved in ghastly accident along Lagos-Ibadan express way.
The driver was drunk but I didn't know because I was an innocent teenager.
The back tyre of our vehicle tore into shreds while on motion, he struggled to keep the vehicle on the road.
He matched the brakes and the vehicle tumbled severally. When he narrated the story, experienced drivers said he shouldn't have matched the brake but because he was not in his right senses, we had a crash. Dangers of alcohol there.
After that incident, I hardly sleep whenever I'm in the bus or car. I get so worried but when my dad is driving, I'm at rest and sometimes I sleep.
Also, I trust my parents as a young boy because they kept to their promises. I've never had any cause to doubt them.
I want you to learn from my childhood experience.
The first lesson is about the confidence I have in my dad whenever he takes the driver seat. It is a blind trust.
Second lesson is my trust in the word or promises of my parents.
To overcome anxiety, you need to trust God's word fully without any iota of doubt knowing that God has a track record of proven integrity.
When I was growing up as a young boy, I trusted my parents so much and I knew they won't fail when they make promises to me.
My heart was always on whatever promises they made to me. I had no cause to worry or doubt them.
God doesn't lie. Romans3:4 says, "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged."
God's word is firmly fixed, it doesn't change. The Psalmist said, "Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens." (Psalm119:89 ESV).
To overcome anxiety, fix your gaze on the unchanging word of God. Anxiety is an indicator of not trusting God enough.
Another thing you need do is to acknowledge that God is in the driver seat of your life. With him driving your life, you cannot crash.
Paul said, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."(Phil2:13). Hallelujah!!!
God is my father. He is making all things work out according to his good pleasure not according to my worries.
I wish you can start thinking this way. The moment the devil knows that your attention is on God's word and not on your challenges and what may happen, If you think and act like a man who knows the man at the driver seat, anxiety will fizzle out.
Let your focus be on God's word not on your feelings. The devil will tell you so many negative things and make your imagination run wild, he'll speak his own words to you but If you can focus on God's word, you'll triumph.
The word is crucial in moments of despair and the knowledge about the driver driving your life is important. God is driving my life, no worries.
CONFESSION: Father, I thank you because your word is true, eternal and settled in heaven. I thank you because you're at the driver seat. As I study the word of God, I dispel my fears and worries. The word is working for me and making me to triumph over life's challenges in Jesus name
