VICTORY OVER ANXIETY Pt.5

November 18, 2022 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

PRAISE YOUR WAY OUT OF ANXIETY

The story of Paul and Silas illustrate this clearly. They were thrown into the dungeon and their feet were fastened in the stocks.

In that condition, they could have wallowed in pity, complained, whined and become anxious. They had every reason to cry and be worried.

However, they explored the dimension of praise and thanksgiving. Acts16:25 says, "Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening." They got their deliverance after this.

Anxiety is a killer of joy. It steals our joy and dampens our spirit. Anxiety makes us blind to seeing the good things God has done.

It makes us focus on and magnify little challenges and ignore great things God has done for us in the past.

As a believer, we are meant to be making melody in our hearts even If our mouth is not singing. Our hearts should be full of praises and thanksgiving in all circumstances.

Eph5:18-20 says, "Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

If you want to overcome anxiety, learn to live a life of praise and thanksgiving.

Anxiety magnifies the problem but praise and thanksgiving magnifies God. We praise God and give thanks not because of the absence of challenges but because it is the right thing to do in all circumstances.

In fact, our prayers and supplications should include thanksgiving. Phil 4:6 says, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

Do not allow anxiety steal your song. If you count your blessings as that song writer said, you'll discover that greater miracles have happened in the past. Make melody in your heart and stay joyful.
