PROVIDE FOR YOUR HOME- DON'T BE LAZY

November 10, 2022 · Lanre Oyeleke · 4 views

1Tim5:8 But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

I was discussing with an elderly missionary sometimes ago. He told me about a people group where men marry and withdraw from work immediately after marriage.

The men just become irresponsible immediately after marriage. They don't care where and how their wives will get money, all they are concerned about is that she must bring money home and get food for everyone in the family.

As a believer, this is absolutely wrong even If you're from a culture where this is the norm. It weighs heavily on women when they play the role their husbands should be playing.

You can be sure of one thing, those lazy men will be sex studs. A man who is not expending energy on something productive will demand sex daily. The wife becomes baby-making machine.

Always I tell people, it is impossible to see a hard-working man who have sex daily. The way and manner I hear some men demand for sex every night leaves me with so many questions about their work ethics.

Irresponsibility isn't part of kingdom culture. The culture of the kingdom is superior to any culture.

Laziness and poor attitude to work is frowned against in the bible: "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"( Proverbs 6:6).

You can't be sleeping and waking up expecting manner to fall from heaven. The manna in this generation no longer falls from heaven, it is worked for.

Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense ( Proverbs 12:11).

Sometimes, laziness wears the garb of being too selective. Some persons have decided not to work unless they a get a job that pays a particular amount.

There are people like that today. They don't believe in growing with little earnings. They just want it big immediately. That's one of the signs of laziness not class.

When you meet such people, they know the names of good cars and their taste can be so high yet they are not ready to start with little.

Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow ( Proverbs 13:11).

The Bible says there's profit in every labour (Prov14:23). It is not only men that have this problem, some women do as well.

There are women that are so lazy and will just want to sit back and be a street gossip instead of finding something productive doing.

They are not constrained by their husbands to be a sit-at-home wife but they made themselves one.

There are single men looking for ladies with good employment. Their intention is to use those ladies as a form of social security.

Some brothers hunt specially for hardworking ladies so that they can live off them.

Singles, diagnose his attitude to work and diagnose hers as well. Don't marry someone that hates to work.

Lack of finance can kill romance in marriage.

Don't be carried away with the mantra: "I have a vision and my vision will put you on the television". That's a statement of faith but quickly remind such a person to add work to faith because faith without work(action) is dead.

Singles, beware of those who build castles in the air. Their utopian dreams are always in dream land, no meaningful step taken to achieve it.

Don't marry someone who claims to be a contractor or general merchant yet you can't pin-point the exact thing he is doing. You may just be his next contract in deception.

Some homes are in crisis today because some men are not living up to their expectation as regards work and provision. The man is cool with watching t.v.all day, chatting with friends and enjoying while the wife work her fingers off.

It is quite understandable when a man loses his job but it makes no sense when a man is not ready to work to support his family even if the earnings are little. This is unscriptural. The bible didn't teach us to be irresponsible.

Singles, don't marry a lazy spouse, God hates laziness.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to be productive in Jesus name. Amen
