SINGLES, BE WISE Pt.4

Proverbs 4:7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. NLT

SEEK HIS WILL

I live in a generation where people no longer believe God is involved in leading people on marital issues.

On several occasions, I've heard preachers express the same opinion citing Adam's complaint to God about Eve in Genesis. How wrong!

Someone once told me that man's duty is to find and present his choice to God for ratification. In the end, what we'll have is a situation where man will impose on God his choice.

What's wrong with asking God to lead you and reveal His will to you? Those who exclude God's leading from the equation of their lives have set themselves up for a life of frustration and disappointment.

Listen to the words of wisdom from the wisest man that lived before Jesus: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do( including marriage), and he will show you which path to take" (Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NLT Emphasis mine).

King Solomon in all his wisdom deemed it fit to seek the Lord in all things.

It is an act of wisdom to seek God's face and get clear direction from him before venturing into marriage with someone.

Your relationship with God comes to play here. Don't be a lazy Christian and become a prayer warrior when marriage beckons. It doesn't work that way.

Those that become emergency prayer warriors when they're about to marry often miss it. You don't play games with God and win.

The God you've not been hearing before you decided to venture into marriage, you may not hear him now that you want to marry. Singles must have a vibrant relationship with God.

If I teach you "tricks" on how to know the right person, know that Satan is a master of trickery. He can outsmart our man-made schemes.

Human understanding has failed in this regard and will continue to fail. You don't choose a spouse with human wisdom and man-made methods.

The Holy Spirit can't be outsmarted. Never! What is hidden to man is known to Him and He can reveal those things to those that seek God's mind.

But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10-11 NLT).

Who do you think the Holy Spirit is? If our generation can quit from leaning on our understanding and rely totally on the Spirit, we'll always get it right.

To those that are sincere seekers of God's will, this is God's promise: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you" (Psalms 32:8 NIV).

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to seek your face and not rely on my own understanding in Jesus name.
