Acts 1:14 They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. NLT
A PLACE OF UNITED PRAYER
I read about the Moravian believers who prayed for 100 years non stop. They had a 24 hours prayer chain that spanned 100 years. I don't know of any church or gathering of believers that has achieved the same feat. Through that continuous united prayer, doors of the Gospel opened around Europe to the Moravians. They had the spirit of believers in the upper room. The bible said the early apostles were united in prayer, Mary the mother of Jesus, other women and the siblings of Jesus were there. Their prayer focus was the same and their hearts were knitted together in the place of prayer. I'm sure they weren't praying to Mary neither were they pleading to her to act as an intermediary between them and God.
In other portions of Acts of apostles, these set of believers shook hell with their united prayer and it reverberated here on earth: "After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness" (Acts4:31). You need to read Acts 4 to know the content of what they prayed about unitedly. It was devoid of selfish request, they were praying kingdom focused prayers. The type of prayers that makes God glad. The type of prayer that advances God's kingdom here on earth. There's a reverse today among supper room believers and in supper room churches. The prayer is always imprecatory and it is about self and nothing more. They use prayer as a tool of assassination thereby making God look like hired assassin.
The day the church returns to bible-based united prayer, we'll take kingdoms for Christ, shake hell, set the captives free and establish God's throne in the hearts of men. That united prayer was the reason for the angelic deliverance of Peter in Acts 12. The prayer of the upper room was not about cars, houses, neither was it about millions, it was about the kingdom of God. Stop running around seeking for "supper" in prayers. I have not said you shouldn't ask for provisions, please do but it shouldn't be your priority in prayer. "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." Matthew 6:33 NLT. As a church leader, use the opportunity you have to lead the people to pray kingdom relevant prayers. Imagine what will happen if all believers all over the world are praying the same prayer point every time they gather, what do you think will happen? If we want to change our country and communities, we need to be united in prayer. That's how to achieve kingdom result as a church.
Father, I refuse to be a supper room Christian. My heart is set on kingdom matters and I'll pray about them henceforth in Jesus name.
