I heard about the experience of a brother who listened to a preacher. As he listened, he was sexually aroused. It was as though he began to have sex with an imaginary being. While that was happening, he came to his senses and the Holy Spirit told him that the preacher he was listening to was sexually immoral. So what he experienced was an impartation or transmission of the spirit the man carried into his life because he opened his heart to listen to him. Though the man was preaching the bible, something else was being transmitted.
There is a deep spiritual principle on how people become whatever they are. To become, for example, sexually immoral, a faith filled person, healed or angry, there are ways this things are imparted from the spirit realm into our lives.
Spiritual things(good or bad) are imparted by visuals(what we see) and audio( what we hear). In physics, we can say that light and sound waves are the ways through which things are transmitted. Though the physicists restricted the working of waves to physical things but it is just an adaptation of how spiritual things are transmitted. When the devil want people to become whatever he desires especially in character & behaviour, he programme them for it through what they constantly hear and watch. In the bible, Lot was called a righteous man but he committed incest. How did it happen? Through what he saw and heard in Sodom&Gomorrah. One would think it was because of alcohol but that's just a trigger, immorality has filled his heart long before he was drunk, alcohol only gave it expression: "and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (for that righteous man dwelling among them, IN SEEING AND HEARING, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)", 2 Peter 2:7-8 KJV. When the devil want to demonize people and make them follow his ways, he exposes them to bad television and radio programs or books. As they watch, listen or read, a demon enters their life. Guard your eye and ear gate jealously.
When the Holy Spirit want to bring about a change in the life of any man, the same vehicle of hearing&seeing is used. Our opening text says it all: "But we all, with open face BEHOLDING (that is to see or look) as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."(2 Cor3:18). Apostle John confirms this truth in 1John3:2: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall SEE him as he is." When we expose ourselves to seeing and hearing things about Christ, we become like Christ. When we listen to faith messages, faith is imparted because faith cometh by hearing, Rom10:17. To become, be mindful of what light and sound waves is imparting into your spirit. Do not sit with television programs where immorality is celebrated. In no time, you'll become immoral.
Do a review of your daily exposure, stop whatever is capable of making you become what you watch/listen and give attention to those things that can make you become God's desire for your life.
