Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. NLT
KINGDOM PURSUIT
There are several definitions of the word "value". Value refers to worth, what someone holds dear. The kingdom we are referring to in this context has nothing to do with the kingdoms of this world ruled by an earthly king. The kingdom in context refers to the reign and rule of God in the hearts of men. The kingdom of God is not restricted to a church or a fellowship gathering, it refers to the totality of God's reign in the lives of a believer. "One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you". Luke 17:20-21 NLT. Hallelujah!!! The best way to define kingdom values is this: 'they are principles or standards of behaviour that God holds dear; they refer to those things that are important to God". If our walk with God will be fruitful, we must uphold what He values and seek to please Him always.
In most organizations, there are core values. The ethos of the organization, their policy, products&services revolves round those core values. If they recruit anyone into their employ, they'll indoctrinate them with their core values. There are several things people pursue today. Mundane pursuit is the reason why we have the proverbial rat race. In rat race, there's no winner and most times, as we are about getting to the finish line, the track is extended. Rat race leads to a cycle of pursuit that is unending till death comes. It renders men useless and makes them to labour for that which perish. Jesus said: "But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval”. John 6:27 NLT
God values kingdom pursuit above all else. Embedded in kingdom pursuit are other things that God values. A man that pursues the kingdom is concerned first about things that are heavenly. His affection is set on things above not beneath: "Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth", Colossians 3:1-2 NLT. When God sees those who pursue all that His kingdom represent, the whole of heaven holds them in high esteem.
Father, I receive the grace to pursue the kingdom of God in Jesus name.
