LIVING PURE IN A SEX CRAZY WORLD Pt.2

WHY THE EMPHASIS ON SEXUAL IMMORALITY?

I am a living witness of the havoc sexual immorality can wreck in the life of people especially those that carry a glorious destiny. I gave my life to Christ as a junior secondary school student. Immediately after salvation, I started preaching in the school with a colleague. Those days, Christian fellowship was outlawed in my school but we went ahead preaching from class to class, gathering students for the word and prayer unofficially. At the end of every examination while waiting for result, we organized conference meetings within the school. Some of our teachers and seniors attended because what we were doing was impactful with great testimonies of salvation, healing and miracles but there was no one to disciple us and teach us how to walk with God without falling. The devil saw this gap in our walk with the Lord and set a dirty trap of immorality for us. By the time we got to SSS1, we had become cold and dull spiritually. We began to do girls and graduated to prostitutes and alcohol. On one occasion, I became drunk in the school but my colleagues covered me, the sick bay became my refuge place for hiding.

I thank God for restoration at the age of 17. My encounter with the Lord in my pre admission years on OAU campus before I left for the University set me on course for destiny. Hallelujah!!! God is in the business of restoration. Though God forgave me but I knew I lost something vital on the bed of immorality. That was the beginning of other troubles in my life that led me to into spiritual warfare. I have heard some ask, "is sexual sin the only sin?" They ask this question to downplay the emphasis on sexual immorality. Of course, I agree that sexual sin is not the only sin and all sins can take people to hell, there's no doubt about that. However, the only sin known to empty men or women of virtues and glory quickly is sexual immorality. That's why it is a very dangerous sin. God will forgive every act of sexual immorality like He will telling a lie if those involve ask for forgiveness and truly repent. The blood of Jesus is still potent but what is lost on the altar of immorality may take years to recover. My mentor once said that recovery from sexual immorality may take 20 years.

The devil uses the bait of sexual immorality to empty men and women on great kingdom assignments. Samson was anointed for a "dangerous" purpose likewise Joseph. Both of them had destinies that will affect a nation positively. The devil knew there was something great about these men so he set them up for a fall, one fell while the other succeeded. The moment you set out to do great things for the kingdom, just know that your major temptation and battle with the flesh may come along the line of sexual immorality. No sin empties a man quickly as sexual immorality does. That's why we have to be on guard always as the world has become sex crazy and our arch enemy is planning to spare no one from being a victim. Don't forget the quote of Rev Areogun, "You are not pure until you are sexually pure".
